Originally from North Tonawanda, New York, the son of a classical singer and pianist, jazz stylist Gary Brumburgh originally taught elementary/special education in Florida before setting his sights on a performance career and moving to Los Angeles in the late 70s. In the 80s and 90s, he acted in commercials (Pizza Hut), film (Repossessed) and TV (Days of Our Lives), in addition to performing in clubs and in musical theatre leads of such shows as South Pacific (starring with John Raitt), Cabaret, Company, Sugar and his last, the jazz-edged, Ovation-winning City of Angels at Los Angeles' Colony Theatre. Following a long sabbatical, he refocused on jazz after connecting with mentor Ellen Johnson and has since appeared at such established clubs as Catalina Jazz Club, Upstairs at Vitello’s (E Spot Lounge) and the Gardenia, as well as committing to special events.
