1967/ 1976
Paolo Conte is one of the leading exponents of Italian music, with a history of the Adriano Celentano's Clan in 60's, for which (among others) wrote "Azzurro", one of the most famous and succesful Adriano Celentano's songs. His soloist career is in Jazz field, a Jazz for all type of audience. But not for this commercial.
"Tournée" is a live album recorded in 1991, 1992 and 1993 in Hamburg, Paris, Brussels, Hamburg, Wien, Den Haag, Valencia, Hamburg, Monte-Carlo and Enschede. The final result is over 1 hour of fabulous Jazz, POP as long as you want, but not far from the musical concept of Ray Charles (and not because Paolo Conte is also pianist). It is interesting to note that the music of Paolo Conte is very relaxed, yet easy, Swing long as you want but close to some Be Bop. It is interesting to see in certain uses of the Synth research not to include the Rock but to enrich the sound. A little like the primordial primordial Fusion Miles Davis at the end of the 60's. But rather to see Paolo Conte only a performer of songs written by him, I see in this album the essence of the original Jazz explained to us contemporaries. The result is music easy, but very refined, sober, full of passion and caring about the mode (also in the field of Jazz). Hardly we remain disappointed by Paolo Conte, is that the Jazz is our belief, is that it is not. Mettalari I know who listen and fail to appreciate Paolo Conte as able to be credible to those who do not understand Jazz.
In "Tournée" there are 19 original compositions (including the Jazz version of "Blue"), all engaging and able to bring our mind in a Jazz Club.
So I am happy to reviw this album (and, in general, a Paolo Conte album). Because we are facing a great artist and great music.
