The Paris Reunion Band is a living, breathing tribute to the Paris jazz scene of the late 1950's and '60's in general and to Kenny Clarke specifically. It was Clarke who came to Paris in 1956 to settle and make music, eventually becoming the spiritual leader of all expatriate American players who made Paris the center of the jazz universe at that time.
A remarkable number of great jazz musicians played and/or lived in Paris during that exciting decade, creating a "golden age" which included the likes of Stan Getz, J.J. Johnson, Miles Davis, Art Blakey, the Modern Jazz Quartet, and many more. It started as early as 1951, but this was its apogee.
