Japanese band Special Others plays music you possibly have never heard before. Using post-rock aesthetics and repetitive liquid structure as their basis, they also add jazzy drumming and lots of energy.
Their latest release is made up of just two-compositions. First "Wait For The Sun", the title song, lasts seven and half minutes and contains an overly-optimistic melodic mid-tempo repetitive composition with lots of quirky drumming and a strong Japanese folk flavor (plus some vocals at the end of the song). The second song is shorter - just four minutes and combines the same post-rock aerial background mixed with Afro-Cuban percussion and a Latin tune.
Such a short release leaves you almost shocked after listening - the band's music sounds almost familiar, but at the same time contains elements you can hardly imagine they could be placed together, strange and interesting.
