I'm quite surprised that this jazz website doesn't pay much attention to Astor Piazzolla. Maybe he's a tango nuevo artist, but he has the same appeal as Latin jazz. I went through about five or six of his albums before I checked the jazz fusion RYM charts for something to listen to and found this album there. This is my favorite album of his because it emphasizes the fusion and latin classical elements that are prominent in his works despite being constantly overshadowed by the tango. The songwriting was surprising, constantly intriguing, calming but cinematic and even infectious. This is the album that put Astor Piazzolla in my top 40 musical artists.
