One more in line of Chick Corea's live recordings, released in Japan during last some years.Corea rarely plays not very good music, but last time his releases too often become high quality but very safe, even a bit conservative musical recordings, often based on his best ,but too well-known and too often played and recorded compositions.

The Boston Three Party is different, and it's really great event! Chick Corea plays there with bassist Eddie Gomez and his early RTF-years collaborator percussionist Airto Moreira. This music was recorded live on April 28, 2006 at Boston's Berkelee Performance Center and dedicated to Bill Evans.

Released in Japan only (as single CD and later as part of 6CD release "Five Trios"), this album is expensive and rare import,so not so well known even between Corea's fans. In real, these recordings are possibly among the best what Corea recorded during last decade!

Differently from other recordings ,coming from similar period of time, this album doesn't contain saloon post-bop or contemporary jazz almost at all. Music here is very emotive and groovy mix of Latin,bossa-nova,electric piano driven fusion and big doze of avant-garde jazz!

I can hardly remember where else on more current Corea's recordings I heard long free-form improvs, wordless screaming vocals and distorted bass.I really like to listen this album again and again, and when listening I can hear what is that magic component here, doing this album different from Corea's other albums: adventure. This album is far not so safe, well calculated and perfectly recorded, but here are emotions, experiments and Corea's mastership gets new breath on this music. It sounds as real jazz again!
