The first Parliament album since Osmium is also George Clinton's reunion with Bootsy Collins, whose last contact with the P-Funk mothership was on Funkadelic's America Eats Its Young. Presenting a more purely funk vision, with the psych elements of Funkadelic scaled back, the album ranges from the horn-led and fairly mainstream title track to the dark and maudlin All Your Goodies Are Gone, with funky basslines and guitar licks underpinning every track. It isn't Parliament-Funkadelic's absolute best album, but it is a strong release which re-established Parliament as a viable force and counterpoint to Funkadelic; in due course George Clinton would be making up for lost time with a string of great funk albums from this configuration of his sprawling musical empire.
