Warthur
Under most circumstances, I'd be pretty leery of a Funkadelic album consisting solely of rejected cuts from a superior Funkadelic album lashed together to meet a contractural obligation. But in this case, Tales of Kidd Funkadelic is made of tracks left over from the Hardcore Jollies sessions, and "not quite as good as Hardcore Jollies" is still really quite good. Less focused on guitar heroics than its parent album, the disc also features some of Funkadelic's most interesting vocal work, which at some points borders on proto-rap. This was the final Funkadelic album on Westbound, and wow - what an incredible exit.
