Rokukai
Take the last three letters in slick and here's what you get. Little of Marcus Miller's multi intrumental prowess is shown off here--basically, it's a debut already treading water, lost in a sea of boring smooth jazz R/B quiet storm. There's some funky bits and some flourishes that suggest Miller had a true vision for his talents, but these are few and far between, and get lost in the wash. The highlight, if you can call it that, is the minor hit "Much too Much". It's the second song on the disc--good luck getting there.

Miller's hybrid is much better realized on his second, self-titled release the following year
