This is a great compilation of Vlatko Stefanovski's OST. Leb i Sol guitarplayer composed music for "Suicide Guide" (first 3 songs), "Gipsy Magic" (track 4 & 5), "Three Summer Days (from track 6 to 8), "Journey To The Sun" (tracks 9, 10, 11) and "Skyhook" (from track 12 to 14). This compilation is a summary of these experiences.
I do not know these films but the music is good also as simple songs for albums. "Suicide Guide" is the first soundtrack summary on this compilation: "Suburban" is a good song, with tons of magic and feeling as "Taxy Blues" is a strange mix between Funky, R&B and Blues with great bass lines, guitar and sax. "Kisses In The Park" present a good accordion and guitar in a modern POP ballad. "Gipsy Magic" is presented with two tracks, "Gipsy Song" and "Cherga", basically similars to Goran Bregovic soloist songs but with more various sounds and colours. From "Three Summer Days", "Three Summer Days main theme" is a mix between Vangelis and Folk, in a World Fusion full of magic and feeling. "In The Family" is a dramatic slow tempo song with geat synths and acoustic guitar, "New World For Us" is a good Dance/ R&B songs with good vocal lines. "Journey To The Sun", if I'm wrong, is a Turkish film. So the music is a mix between Jazz and Turkish Folk. And the music is dramatic. Interesting the use of clarinet in "Flooded Village". "Skyhook" ("Nebeska Udica") is a dramatic film which speaks of the war in former Yugoslavia. "Skyhook Main Theme" is a dramatc hymn with great powerful and rebellion in its vein! This is a magical song as "In The Shelter" that have more Folk in the vein and "Basket Match" that is more traditional in Fusion view (in Pat Metheny style).
A great compilation, is this. A great example of World Fusion (for music) and movies. At the same time, if, as me, you do not know the films, the music remain great. Wrote with passion and devotion the compositions included in "Kino Kultura" are all magical.
