El Michels Affair continues to put a comtemporary spin on classic funk with the release of "Walk on By: A Tribute to Black Moses". This 27 minute set begins with "Shaft" and "Walk on By" the two obligatory standards. Well played and full of life. El Michels turns "Run Fay Run" into an Afrobeat classic. "Hung Up On My Baby" is a late night classic, and "Red Rooster" is deeply funky. My favorite song on the disc.

An uneventful yet fun "Bumpy's Lament" and a short edit of "Walk on By" finish the album. Short and sweet, this album is as cool as an Arnold Palmer after a hot 18 holes.
