Creed Taylor produced this pre-disco gem that included the huge R and B hit, "What a Diff'rence a Day Makes". All in all, this is an excellent record that sounds little like the young jazz vocalist that rose to fame in the 1950's. This record shows a mature woman who knows the blues and delivers in aces, surrounded by expert musicians.

This album reflects the dancefloor-oriented albums Taylor was coming out with during the late seventies. A particular highlight is "I Can Stand A Little Rain", a heart-wrenching ballad about love and loss. Find this album, read a little about Esther Phillips, and you'll find she knows what she's talking about.
